I sent out an email today letting my subscribers know about the new photo gallery at Catio Designs. I had a lady email me and share a sad story about her cat Elvis. With her permission I am posting what she sent me.

I know there are many of you that let your kitties roam free and I do understand your decision. I also know that we lose far too many of our beloved family members day after day. I urge you to think about building a Catio and protecting your cats from the dangers they face. I know I speak for all of you in wishing Cheri and her family good thoughts. They lost their sweet Elvis( pictured above) and I sincerely hope that none of you have to experience what they are now going through.

Hi Samantha,

We are going to build a catio in honor of our sweet young cat who, just a few days ago, was run over and killed right in front of our home. We live in a quiet neighborhood on a low-traffic, partial dead-end road; although the speed limit is 25 mph, people ignore it and speed. Our wonderful cat, Elvis, was killed as a result of such a speeder. For the time being, we only let our remaining cats out the back door and bring them all in at night.  Once we save enough money and build a catio, then I’ll feel confident that our cats will be safe.  For now, we do the best we can and pray for protection of our cats. I’m attaching a photo of our Elvis, who is now buried deep in our back yard, lovingly wrapped in an old t-shirt belonging to my 11-year old daughter.  She’s the one who rescued Elvis.

We all loved him immensely.

**I am donating a copy of the Catio Designs Guide to Cheri and her family. Hoping our designs add many years to her cat’s lives!

You can view my 15X15 foot cat pen on Face Book. I have 7 inside kitties, most of them strays that have been Neutered or Spayed. One 19 year old who is blind and deaf. Pictures on Face Book will show Shadow in the pen and climbing up a 2″X6″ carpeted plank to a 5foot high platform and then coming back down. They are AMAZING! Thank you for letting me share.
